Questions & Answers

Q: Would it be possible to find out if the 893.121 maintenance stainless steel can be used on surfaces that would come into contact with food? The label says “do not” use on food contact surfaces and is it also states thoroughly rinse food contact surfaces with potable water before re-exposing food or packaging November 24, 2020
A: Thank you for your inquiry, to answer your question if our 893.121 Stainless Steel Care Cleaner can be used on food contact surfaces the answer is yes. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency CFIA has approved this product for direct contact surfaces. It is important to note however the “DO NOT use on food contact surfaces” can be a little tricky. This text is standardizing, and provided by CFIA in the regulations, however, if you go on to read the additional directions CFIA explains that the product can be re-exposed or re-introduced to the surface once the surface has been diluted with water. The reason for the water is because, at the end of the day, the cleaner is still a chemical and in order to best bring the surface to its neutral state CFIA would like water applied to remove any remnants of any cleaning product.
